Sailing on Lake Jindabyne

This is an image taken on Lake Kindabyne next to the Snowline Caravan Park. You too can experience the exhilaration and excitement of flowing along with quick winds aboard a windsurfer or one of our catamarans. Both 14' and 16' Hobie Cats and sailboards are available for tuition or hire.

Walking and Hiking tours

Follow in the footsteps of experienced operators from Paddy Pallin when exploring the mountains. With their lead, you can experience a Sunrise Walk, an Alpine Sunset, a Brumbie walk, or even an evening stroll under the stars in many places including Blue Lake and Mount Twynam, the Snowy River Headwaters, the Kosciuszko Summit, as well as the Western Fells or The Sentinel.

 
Mountain Bike tours and hire

For your convenience there are two South Easy Mountain Biking (SEMCO) shops in the towns of Tathra and Thredbo. They can be contacted at 02 6457 6234 and will provide you with mountain bike tours beside snow-covered mountains, down the thrilling drop at Thredbo village, or a ride along the south-east coastline. The companies also provide bike and equipment sales.

 
Boat Hire

Snowline Boat Hire can be found within Snowline Caravan Park, which is in Jindabyne just at the road junction of Kosciuszko and Thredbo. Depending on your needs, you can hire an open or half cabin fishing boat ideal for adventure-going equipped with a 9.9 hp motor, rod holders, and a 2-way radio system that can comfortably accommodate 5 or 6 adults. For the more deluxe-minded, we also provide a 5-meter Marlin Broadbill fishing boat that is certain to be the best boat out on the lake. With the help of our experienced driver you can water ski. Whether you are 8 or 80 years old, there is equipment provided so that any age can try. There are also paddle boats for hire, as well as aqua bikes and canoes of a Canadian style. You can also rent fishing tackle. We have a large amount of tackle, live bait, and lures in stock. After an early morning of fishing, try out our tennis court that sports overhead lights and a super grass surface.

Thredbo Alpine Village

The city of Thredbo is located in the Alpine Way inside Kosciuszko National Park and has countless activities for people of any age and interest. There are guided outings to Mount Kosciuszko that begin with a popular chairlift ride that gives one a very nice introduction to the Snowy Mountains. There are also children’s programs for holiday periods. You might choose to go for a swim in our heated indoor pool which also provides a fun waterslide for children. In addition, there is a hardly-scary horizontal climbing wall, and tennis and squash courts. If desired, multi-day activity packages can be purchased.

 
Snowy Mountains Horse Riding

This facility can be found on the Alpine Way through Jindabyne and provides 1-3 hour horse rides suited to all rider abilities. Full-day or overnight rides can also be arranged by booking in advance, as can catering for small and large exclusive groups. The area is only five minutes from Skitube toward Jindabyne and is open all year long.

Yarrangobilly Caves

The caving area is approximately two and a half hours from Jindabyne and sports all kinds of caves to be toured either with a guide or by oneself. After caving, one can swim in thermal pools, snack in the picnic area with electric barbecues, or combine the trip with a drive to Tumut 2 power station located in Cabramurra.

Kosciuszko Walk

Many consider a hike to Mount Kosciuszko a must-do adventure during a trip to the mountains. The walk can begin either from the top of the Thredbo chairlift or from Charlottes pass, with a return trip distance totaling about 14 kilometers which is a do-able walk for most people in good health. Keep an eye on the weather, however, and be prepared for bad weather in case of sudden changes which happen often and quite rapidly.

Wildlife

There are large numbers of local Eastern Grey kangaroos at Silvertop, as well as Benney’s wallabies, hairy-nosed wombats and echidnas. You might also be lucky enough to see emus and brumbies.
